The Finale

I spoke with a woman from Ralphs corporate this afternoon. She first spoke with the cashier then phoned me. Our stories matched up until I shared some of the extra stuff the cashier failed to report that she had said. She told the corporate rep "I was very nice to him but we get people trying to return stuff all day every day without receipts." The corp rep said "after listening to your side of the story I think the cashier should've known that you knew what you were talking about and should've taken you more seriously."

Our chat ended with her asking if wanted to speak directly to the store manager about Joanne's behavior? Or, if wanted her to speak to the manager and have him reprimand her for attitude?" I opted to have her call him. She was gracious enough to call me an hour later to share that the store manager was off work for the next two days and that she'll be contacting him on Monday.

At this juncture, I'd say I'm satisfied and probably will forego writing that letter to the BBB. All is well again. I've complained, I've been heard, I've been refunded and them fools won't be getting anymore of my money.

Update

The store manager issued a full refund for the two items. He apologized for his cashier and said she handled the situation wrong.

I'm almost done with them. One letter to the BBB and I'll be through.

So how 'bout this in the news:

British store worker fired by text message

LONDON — Katy Tanner's cellphone beeped with a startling message — you're fired. The 21-year-old had a migraine headache and took a sick day last week from her job at Blue Banana, a chain body-piercing studio in Cardiff, Wales, she said Monday. She turned on her cellphone the next day to discover she'd been terminated from her sales position.

"We've reviewed your sales figures and they're not really up to the level we need," shop manager Alex Barlett wrote in the message. "As a result, we will not require your services any more. Thank you for your time with us."

Ian Bisbie, a Blue Banana director said the company does not usually fire employees by text message, but had no other alternative after phoning Tanner five or six times and calling her boyfriend.

The company also defended the sacking-by-text message as a way to keep modern.

"We are a youth business and our staff are all part of the youth culture that uses (text) messaging as a major means of communication," Bisbie said in a statement e-mailed to the South Wales Echo newspaper. "Therefore as we wished to spare Miss Tanner the embarrassment and expense of coming into the store only to be sent straight home again, it was decided this was the best course of action to take."

This in the news too:
Bengals fans who spot bad behavior can call hot line

Bengals fans annoyed by bad behavior in the stands can now report it by cell phone.

The hot line number should be easy to remember -- (513) 381-JERK. <---hilarious

Fans using too much foul language will first get a warning from stadium security. Those who continue could be ejected and have their season tickets and personal seat licenses revoked. More serious offenses could lead to arrest.

When callers report problems such as threats, fights or drunkenness, security officials will use the stadium's video cameras to focus on the offenders and then respond.

Ok, I hope everyone rememberd to tune in to the premiere of FoL2. If you didn't watch, you are wrong as two left feet. Kidding, of course.

A Moment in Time

Time seems to slow down around this time year so that I am never given a chance to forget what tragedy happened on this day 15 years ago. August the 7th is always a day of reflection on how different my life woulda been had my mom not passed in 1991 and to remember what a special person she was.

I will return tomorrow.
