Restriction

I am placing myself on restriction. No blogging (posting and visiting) until I complete this treatment for a reality show that's been swirling around in my head for MONTHS now. I am a procrastinator of the worst sort. Hopefully, this will help me do what I am supposed to do.

My Eyes Doth Not Deceive Me

Went to the local beauty supply chain to buy some lotion and to my surprise the male cashier is wearing... Scrunched face. No! It can NOT be I think. Double take. Triple take. Hmm! My eyes doth not deceive me; dude is wearing acrylic nails. What in the hell? I can't even lie. I was bothered by the sight and considered calling the chain's corporate office to complain. After leaving the store, it took ten minutes of chanting to myself "its none of your business Shawn. Let it go!" before I decided against contacting corporate.

Frown. Smile.

Well, I did something this weekend I usually don't do. I ventured out to see a flick during its opening weekend. Frown. I am sorta wishing I hadn't. Don't ask me why but I really felt compelled to check out Pride. Sigh! I was so disappointed people. To my surprise the film was lackluster. The performances were good but the story was rather cookie cutter and formulaic; so much so, that it detracted from the film. I really felt like I was watching a tv movie rather than a feature film. I was thinking, why am I having to pay to see this? This shoulda been on cable. Character development was nearly nonexistent and the predictability factor was terribly highly. Sigh! Folks! This is a renter. I wouldn't rush out to see this flick.

Yesterday, I also got an opportunity to watch HBO's made for cable movie Life Support. I really enjoyed it. Smile! Wende.ll Pi.e.rce, Queen and the young actress that played her older daughter really turned in strong performances. The only draw back is the film's pacing is rather slow. If that's not a hang up of yours I'd say check it out.

What main lesson have you learned in the month of February?
No matter how much cautionary planning you put into life sometimes bad shit just happens unexpectedly and there's nothing you can do but ride it out. And, instead of spending time beating yourself up for feeling like you've made every conceivable mistake possible, its much better to spend time encouraging yourself and moving forward to your destination

I don't really have a definition but the difference for me is that passion is intense, spirited and at times volatile; while intimacy is calming, comforting and tender.

My timing is pretty bad with guessing when bloggers post new entries so often times I wait to receive notification from my blog feed before I visit. I check my blog when I receive a comment (through email) that compels me to respond

I don't know if I have a favorite blog, I get a little something different from every blog I frequent. Blogs where the writer communicates with his/her readers in the comment section are the most fun to read though.

Yea, its that time. It breaks my heart to say it but I must push away from the cookies, pies and cakes. Waaa waaa waaa! Y'all know how much I love my treats. However, things are fitting a lot more snug these days than I like. So, as of this week, I have moved on from my fatass phase and into my waist management phase. Monday I kicked started my program with a slim in 6 vid; Tuesday I tried Tae bo extreme; And Wednesday I got my butt kicked trying to do Wi.nso.r Pilates. I am taking a break from exercising today but I'll be back on the grind tomorrow. I think I'm going to shoot for losing 10lbs.

Yesterday I called Spiritual for some laughs and he didn't disappoint.

Spiritual: Hey Shawn!
Me: Hey Spiritual! (pseudo serious) I have something important to ask you.

Spiritual laughs which makes me laugh. You know the drill.

Dem model chicks put on show last night. It was waterworks galore. One chick was sick and unhappy with having to wear a painful weave while another chick had a difficult time coping with the loss of a dear friend to a drug overdose.

Thankfully, we finally got to the makeovers. I thought all the makeovers were good except for Brittany's. It didn't move me but she killed her photo shoot and threw more egg on Renee's hateful face. Renee continues to try to stir up trouble. I'm really interested to see how far she's going to take this tough girl act 'cause its really not working.

Out of habit, I continue to watch this dumb ass show Top Design. I don't even think I pay attention half the time its on. There are too many unlikeable contestants that I have a hard time embracing. Especially this clown right here

I just want to smack the shit out of his smug ass. And I really want to know if he's serious with them corny ass glasses? On a scale from 1-10 his irk factor is 10+.

Anyhoo, in last night's episode he had on-going feud with one of his teammates that spilled over into the judging/critiquing segment of the show. I found it rather comical. Take a peek.

Meanwhile, the other team had its problems too. This comical exchange took place backstage during the judges' deliberations. This was rather comical. Especially, the part where the contestant seeks comfort in the arms of another contestant. I hollered.

What is the deal with Renee? Cry me a river why don't you. What was all that bitching about the other models having easier characters to portray? STFU you whiny, insecure little twit! I'll be glad when her ass gets sent home. She reminds me of Ann from Eva's cycle.

Can you believe Jaslene broke down crying about the other women not liking her? And her belief that the dislike stems from their jealousy of her 'cause she's got it going on - especially, her 'signature' walk...oh wait a minute! Signature walk? Signature walk? Doesn't that sound familiar? Yea, it does...Crazy ass Camille. Jaslene needs a reality check. The women don't like you 'cause you're a stuck up bitch not because you are so talented. STFU! Now That Was Easy

1. Guess what? Picked up my tax return Monday and the not so nice acct's asst was just as nice as she could be. Thankfully, I had received a call from the 3rd asst that works in the office (during the tax season only) earlier that day letting me know my return was ready for pick up. The 3rd asst just happened to be outside when I arrived at acct's office. He approached me and immediately said he had heard about the "call" issue from someone in the office. He was nice enough to share that he told the other 2 assts that it wasn't uncommon for clients to request a call, and that in the 10 yrs he'd been working there I always requested a call. Since he was the one to actually place the call I thanked him repeatedly. Now the shocker was the greeting I got from the other 2 assts when he and I walked into the office. Seriously, you never would've thought that we nearly bumped heads the week before. The not so nice asst was very warm. She added two add'l docs to my file that I brought with me to the office; she offered me candy, and when I refused ('cause I was sick) she insisted I take a few pieces of candy with me anyway and eat them another day; she walked me through all my paperwork to make sure I understood what I needed to sign/complete before I sent the returns off in the mail. I was pleasantly surprised.

2. Filmed a cameo for Girlfriends. Peaches and a few other characters will appear (briefly) in the season finale. Blink and you'll miss me. Seriously!!!!

3. I was chastised by Mwabi a few weeks ago for failing to mention that Legion got picked up for a 2nd season. Phew! I will admit that I was on pins and needles for a while there waiting for the pick up.

The 2nd season is gonna be bananas, I think. Thus far, the episodes we've recorded have been edgier than season 1's episodes. I really, really, really can't wait to see the episodes fully animated. Especially, the episode we just completed. On paper, its different than anything we've ever done but I think Legion fans will be pleased. We'll see!
