More Flava: It Taste Betta Than Ever

Man, oh man. I thought the premiere episode of The Flavor of Love was good but yesterday's episode takes the cake. This show is living up (or down depending on how I choose to look at things) to my every expectation. In fact, I'd say it's exceeding my expectations. There were so many moments of high comedy I just don't know where to start. Off the top:

  1. Re Pumkin and New York's feud: It'd be nice to see a feud between a white and black woman on tv where the white woman isn't moved to tears. I am glad that Pumkin did stand up and say something instead of biting her tongue; especially when she acknowledged her wrinkles then said at least she didn't look like a man like New York. Hehehe! Classic
  2. Re Hottie: Who is so far from being hot. She is messy. Glad she got called out. What's up with the joker grin that forever spread across her face? And what was the deal with the glitter eyeliner? Honestly, even I was shocked to see her walking around in that outlandish outfit with her gut hanging out. Can someone book her an appointment at a fat farm?
  3. Re New York: reminds me of the chicks I saw in Pimps Up, Hoes Down except she has all of her teeth. I swear she looks like she belongs on the ho stroll. Did y'all check out the way she was tossing her weave around? Ha! The dinner table antics "Hi! Hi!" She points at Rain "Not you!" Then New York's confessional "I just mind screwed her!" That She-man's nuts...What was that other confessional she-man had where she batted her eyelids and declared that she's amazing? Are you kidding me?
  4. Re Miss Latin: She didn't represent herself very well. Broken up for a week...glad she spoke her peace to Hottie...oh oh oh...why did Flav misprouncing that french or spanish word Miss Latin was trying to get him to articulate have me in hysterics?
  5. Re Rain: Poor woman. She really likes him. You can see all in her face. Don't know why she told him every man she's ever been with has used her and cheated on her. That's a bit depressing when you're trying to accentuate the positive about yourself. Eh, Trent she's emotional. hehe!!! I agree with her assessment - Flav shoulda been able to easily weed through the fake chicks and the real chicks and made cuts accordingly. I really was waiting for her to throw her drink on New York. Man, I think she woulda gotten kicked off the show but it woulda been worth it to see her beat New York down.

I have to catch a reair of this episode now that my tivo is on the blink. There some stuff I can't remember.

I just rememebered that Flav used the word "Dramatical." Hahahahahahaha!!!!! What an idiot!

Introducing

Dominiqua Douglas and the release of her first Novel Love Lasts Forever. Yay!!!! Congrats! Dominiqua's cool people. Please take a minute to get to know her and her work. Thank guys.

Taken from Dominiqua's blog: Love Lasts Forever is a book of my heart. It's a time travel which is a huge interest of mine and the romance focuses on an interracial couple, Thor (white ex-pro quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons) and Willow (a freedwoman of color who yearns to be the next Harriet Tubman). The idea came to me suddenly and I jumped on it.

What do you do when your dreams are shattered?

Thor Magnusen is clueless. The first time he touched pigskin, he knew football was his life. He never expected a tackle to end his dream. Yet the answer comes when a special family heirloom takes him away from the comforts of 1985 back to the turbulent pre-Civil War days of 1860 and he discovers something more important than a Super Bowl ring.

Willow Elkridge, a freedwoman of color, yearns to be on the frontlines in the growing battle against slavery. The Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 puts many in danger. Having lost her biological parents at the hands of slave patrollers, she hates the thought any child suffering the same. So when her abolitionist surrogate parents forbid her from following her dream to be a conductor on the Underground Railroad, Willow has no choice but to take matters into her own hands. Then Thor, a man from the future, arrives…

What do you do when two worlds collide and love catches you by surprise?

Neither Thor nor Willow knows the answer, but it makes them wonder if love can last forever.

About Dominiqua: Dominiqua Douglas was born in the Mid West, raised in the South and spent twelve years on the West Coast. Thanks to her parents and older siblings teaching, she became an avid reader prior to starting school. Interest in biographies transformed to interest in fairy tales, which led to love of romance novels. As her bookshelves overflowed, family and friends encouraged her to write. At first, she ignored their suggestions but when a surge of inspiration flowed through her during a college playwriting assignment, a spark ignited. In the late 90s, the spark roared into a flame when she discovered the joys of not only reading fan fiction but also writing it, focusing on multicultural themes. Readers' responses, awards and encouragement prompted her to focus on her own original work. When she is not writing or reading, she enjoys designing websites, watching movies, traveling and delicious chocolate.

A Look Back

1)Troop: Man, this was my jam. I knew the routine. You'da swore I was the 6th member. Remember when songs had musical bridges with no vocals?
2)SWV: It's rare that an artist makes a full length song from interlude and the song is hot. SWV used the be queens of dope ass remixes.
3)UNV: Me and my friend used to sing this song e-very-day. Man, we'd switch off singing lead parts then harmonize on the chorus
4)Jodeci: I was never a fan of Jodeci but when I heard this song it was a wrap. I ran out and bought "Diary of a Mad Band"
5)Monica: Remember Miss Thang? Remember when Monica was a grown ass acting 14yr old?
6)NE: Isn't this like their best ballad ever? I remember when I used to be able to hit that high note Ricky hits. "And I LUUUUUUV You Girl"
7)Mr Saadiq: I walked into a store this week and this song was playing and I started grooving in the store
8)Intro: I used to dance around the house singing this song everyday for 6 months
9)Lalah: I remember hearing this song and borrowing Lalah's album from a girl I had a crush on and not wanting to return it. In fact I think I pulled the "if I keep this item long enough she won't remember she owns this" game. Best thing I've ever confiscated. It became one of the my all time favorite albums.
10)Brian: I tried to tell everybody they were sleeping on Brian when he fist came out. This song is so sick it's ridiculous. People weren't ready.

Can U Believe This?

  • How 'bout my 6 day old tivo is on the blink. How 'bout that, huh? I turned my tv on and there was no sound. I thought my tv speakers were blown but after rewiring the video and audio to run from my cable box to my tv I realize it was the tivo malfunctioning. Hmmph! I called tivo and had them walk me through a few troubleshooting steps but that was a bust. I was told that I needed a replacement unit and had the option of sending to them or taking it back to the store of purchase. I've decided to take it back to Best Buy and leave it there. I have my eye on a new toy.

  • Friend called to tell she's upset with hubby again and is ready for him to leave. Friend returned all that stuff she originally bought hubby for christmas. This week she goes on a shopping spree for herself and decides to buy him a replacement gift for all the stuff she returned. She settles on buying him a portable dvd player from Circuit City. She starts having second thoughts about giving him the gift but convinces herself its the right thing to do. When hubby sees the dvd player he says what am I supposed to do with this? I told you I wanted a coat. Friend says so you don't want this? He replies No. Friend has returned the dvd player and has no plans to buy him a coat. She tells me that he complains about everything she does and doesn't understand why he wants to be with someone that obviously makes him unhappy. He needs to leave Shawn. I want a divorce. This isn't working.

  • Spiritual called. Last night he received a legal action notice for overdue rent. This morning he called the accounting department to clear up the mix and to let them know his first month's rent is free. Accounting tells him there's no indication on his lease that he's entitled to a free month of rent.

Wal-Mart Halts Movie Suggestions on Web

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is shutting down the system that creates movie recommendations on its shopping Web site after it linked a "Planet of the Apes" DVD to films about famous black Americans, including Martin Luther King Jr.

Under a "similar items" section, the DVD set's page linked shoppers to four films about the lives of King, actress Dorothy Dandridge, boxer Jack Johnson and singer Tina Turner. Wal-Mart later altered the page to link with television show DVDs.

The world's largest retailer said the software that generates links for shoppers from one movie to others of similar interest would be shut down. All cross references would be removed as soon as technically possible until the system can be fixed, Wal-Mart said
