The Flavor of Love keeps getting funnier. I know some of you can't bear to watch this show but I swear to you it keeps getting better.
Here's a little recap as told to Tasha by moi through IM:
The episode starts with them waking up looking groggy and unkept. We see a few confessionals...nothing interesting.
Oh oh oh Smiley takes Flav breakfast in bed. He wakes up and starts into this whole. "No other girls did this for me. Thank you" crap. You can tell he's geniunely surprised.
The ladies make their way downstairs to have breakfast. While they're sitting around the country girl, Goldie, asks Hottie about her weave. Hottie tells her she doesn't have a weave. Goldie starts doing her eye bugging and big grin thing then says can I touch. Hottie says with a straight face "you absolutely may not" It was too funny. Goldie makes some comment about Hottie trying to fool her and she's black. She was like "come on now!!!" with her trademark big, toothy grin.
It's quite obvious that Hottie has a weave so this segment is lots of fun. There's a big ass part on the side of Hottie's head for the purpose of hiding the tracks.
The butler guy brings the ladies a note that tells them they're going to vegas. The ladies go crazy screaming in glee. They make a mad dash to get ready for the one day trip. While their grabbing clothes Hottie picks up some kind of sheer shirt with fake rabbit fur trim that is obviously not a suitable article of clothing for her fat ass to be wearing. She smiles as she looks at the top and says something like "perfect." Yikes! I don't think I am ready for all that jelly...again
Everyone piles into a limo that's waiting to take them to the airport where flav is standing next to a private jet on the tarmac in his full ministrel regalia with clock, cane and top hat.
He hear a bunch of confessionals where they talk about how good it is to travel in style...that sorta thing. Hottie with her over the top self says she was so excited when they pulled up to the airport because she saw all of the jets and she immediately thought, "Which one of these is mine?"
She did the eye blink thing where they inserted the dollar signs sound effects again...I don't know why but that just doesn't get old.
When they arrive in vegas Flav tells them to go get settled and shares that he has a surprise waiting for them. The rush to get upstairs to the room/suite...can't remember...when they open the door they see racks of clothes just for them. They all make cooing/squealing sounds then start grabbing everything they can fit into.
They're told they have to meet Flav in the casino. They each find an outfit to wear and make their way to meet up with Flav. In the casino they are issued a challenge to win a date with Flav. In ten minutes they have to win as much money as they can playing roulette. They all tank except Red Oyster, New York, and Pumkin seemingly. Oyster is the first to make a profit with about $100. Then New York does her thing and wins about $400. Pumkin is the last so she knew she needed to outdo New York's $400. Pumkin starts well but tanks in the end. New York is declared the winner. All the girls are pissed that New York has won. Before Pumkin takes her turn gambling, one of the girls says to her something like "you have to win for us all."
Backtrack moments:
Before New York starts gambling, she grinds her ass on flav's dick and bounces up and down...
Smiley is kissing on him...with tongue I believe while gambling
Pumkin was also kissing on me.
I can't remember what the rest of them chicks did to him
So...New York wins...They have their private date. She basically lays her heart out to him in a very dramatic and emotional fashion telling him how he needs a woman that can support him emotionally, spiritually, etc. and professes to be that woman. For good measure she slips in that she loves him. God forbid!!! Everybody needs love so I'll hush. He says she scares him a bit. He doesn't think she can handle the pressure that comes along with being his girl. To paraphrase his words "What are you going to do when I am with other women? When I have my lips on other women?" yes...he said that. She breaks down and is sorta crying at this point. Makes a statement about how she's territorial so its gonna be hard. Anyway, they start kissing. A sped up sequence ensues where the waiters/servers are moving dinner plates and other stuff around while they're kissing passionately. I thought I was gonna be sick. The fast paced sequence ends and a graphic pops on screen "Kiss time = 8:37"
While they're on their date, the other chicks hit the strip club. They act a fool. Everybody's shaking it, attempting to pole dance and having a good time. Someone brings up Red Oyster's tattle telling antics and few voice their displeasure. They wonder aloud if they can really have a good time with her around because they don't know what stuff she's going to report back to him. They throw caution to the wind and keep having a good time.
Later, they meet Flav and New York at the limo where he tells them its time to head back to the mansion. Smiley has a confessional where she states that she was envious of New York. Somebody else makes a comment about how they, New York and Flav that is, looked a like happy couple.
So the next day they are given another challenge. Unfortunately, words can't do the sequence justice. It was very entertaining. I laughed and laughed and laughed some more. The gist of the challenge was exciting all of Flav's senses- touch, sight, etc. He does a bunch of confessionals during this time making himself look dumber than we all believe he really is. For instance, he tells the ladies there are a bunch of 'testses" Yes..he said it.
Ok! So the butler guy brings a blindfolded Flav down the stairs to where the ladies are lined up. He smells each of them and rates them. He says all kinds of off the wall crap. The ladies can barely keep themselves from laughing. He told Pumkin something that has slipped my mind. It was hysterical. Whatever he said she was upset in her confessional. He told one she said smelled like spaghetti sauce another she smelled like broccoli and another she smelled like steak. Steak and broccoli got the highest ratings. I am telling you..you have to see it to believe it. It's pure comedy.
Ok. The next sense is sound. They each had to sing "For the land of the free and the home of the Flav" using the star spangled banner melody as he banged out the accompaniment on piano. Of course none of them could sing except for...you'll never guess. Ok, I'll tell you. Hottie...She got up there are belted it out..She got a bit carried away at the end with her embellishments but she can sing. I was shocked she could something more than make a fool of herself.
The next sense was touch. They each had to let him feel a body part while he stuck his hand(s) through a curtain he was hiding behind. Titties, ass, bellies, the works works were offered for inspection. His reactions and comments were over the top and made this sense fun to watch. All the ladies kept trying to up the ante...comedy
Oh man, I forgot the taste sense. They each had to let him taste a body part. Nipples, foreheads and the like were offered up to his lips for consumption. My words can't do this episode justice I am telling you
The last challenge was sight. They all are instructed to move erotically/seductively behind a silkscreen in silhouette. His nasty, ashy, crunchy toes were apart of the highlights. Yuck! This part was really funny...Pumkin was stiff as a board. Hoopz out did everyone doing the splits and throwing her legs behind her ears. Smiley removed her shirt and let her fake titties sit high and perky. Flav loved it. New York was writhing on all fours when she fell on the floor and embarassed herself. Flav and all the ladies bust out laughing. Funny, funny, funny stuff!!!!
When the points are tallied Smiley is the high woman and wins a private date with Flav. Her date consisted of one on one time with him in the jacuzzi I think. They chatted about all kinds of crap. I think he told her he was glad she won. I was distracted during their dating sequence so that's the best I have for that part.
While that's going on the other ladies are dining/chatting in the kitchen. Someone asks Hottie (I think it was Oyster) whom she thought was going home. Hottie replies "I wouldn't mind seeing New York go." New York, sitting right there, says "Y'all not gon' talk about me like I'm not here." Hottie and New York get into it. Hottie is telling New York she wasn't talking her so she should be quiet. New York does that part from the promo clip "New York is in the mother fuckin' house...deal with it." Hottie makes some remark about New York being crazy because she's waving a knife around. New York makes a few more dramatic over the top statements. Next thing you know Hottie gets up and walks away from the table. Red Oyster tells New York that's the first time she's ever walked away from a argument. Red Oyster is shown in a confessional talking about staying out of the drama but not minding pushing buttons to get certain drama started.
Ok...next we see Oyster using the phone where she receives some bad news from her best friend. She looks devasted but we don't hear what's so distressing.
The clock ceremony follows...Smiley is chosen first then Pumkin, Hoopz, then Goldie. Two clocks are left. It's down to Red Oyster, New York and Hottie. There's great tension. Before he gives out the 2nd to last clock Red Oyster steps forward and tells Flava she has to tell him something. She shares that she received a phone call from her best friend telling her that her father was involved in a serious accident and she is removing herself from the competition because a voice in her head is telling her to go home to be with her family. You see a few confessionals from the other chicks talking about "she didn't say a word to me" and "I had no idea!" Flav being Flav rambles off some of his words of support and encouragement. He tells her to call him if she needs anything and he tells her she was going to receive a clock. They hug and kiss and say goodbye.
She returns to say goodbye to the other ladies. New York tells her she is the only 'bitch' in the house she respected. They hug and kiss. Hottie offers her support to Red Oyster. She says something like "The same thing happened to me in college." Red Oyster cuts her off "Shut Bitch! Don't make this about you!" Oyster finishes her goodbyes then leaves the house
Flav does his toasting and libations for the lost one(s) on the carpet. New York tells him that she wants to know who the last clock was for because she's having a hard time dealing with not knowing if she was going home or staying. She has to know if she was going to be cut. He tells her it doesn't matter if she was staying or going the end result is she's still around so let it go. With that she throws down all the champagne in her glass and we're out.
Clips from next week's episode look absolutely hysterical. Brigitte shows up next week and New York looks none too pleased about it. There are going to be accusations, tantrums and more verbal altercations. I can't wait.
Hands down my Flava moment of the week goes to Red Oyster: "Shut up Bitch! Don't make this about you!"

Ain't Nothing Going On 'Round Here
- Sterling has been harassing me about participating in Career Day at his school. He asked me in person, had his mom call to ask me again a few days later and he made his invite the subject of his 'friend letter' he had to compose for homework. The letter was pure comedy. I was making fun of him because he sat at the table for 15 minutes trying to figure whom to write and what to write about. I peeked at his paper everytime I passed by him and there was nothing on the page but his name. After about my 5th pass I see "Dear Uncky Shawn" at the top of his page. I say "What are you writing me about?" He says "Don't look at my paper!" When he finishes his first draft his mom sends him to me to correct his work. That's when I discovery he's made the subject of his letter another invitation to appear at Career Day. Oy vey! I think he wants me to show up so he can show off a bit. I am not down with that.
- I helped AIM girl pack and move some stuff into her new apartment this past weekend. What an experience. We started the day with a food run to get pizza. She thinks she spots Denzel Washington at the Starbucks located next to the pizza parlor. "Shawn I know how you are. Please come with me. I have to go meet Denzel." I respond, "I don't think that's him." "Just come with me," she pleads. "Ok!" I respond. We make our way to the unassuming suspect. "I know you don't want to be disturbed but I just wanted to meet you and say hi" she says to him. "Not a problem" He responds. He gives me a pound "What's up fella?" "Oh, I thought you were someone else. Anyone ever tell you look like Denzel?" she offers with her face twisted. He replies "Nearly everyday I've been here since moving from Alabama." She turns to walk away. He adds "Oh you don't want to talk to me now?" "Naw, you ain't Denzel." We walk away, she turns to me "You knew didn't you? Why didn't you stop me?" I give her my patented "you's a fool" look. I hate driving with her. It's terrible. She drives on the left side of residential streets, she doesn't drive with the flow of traffic because she's on her phone talking and she cusses out everyone that's in 'her way.' I am glad I was spared listening to the lastest, greatest hip hop music. She's one of those types that listens to all the latest hip hop and swears it each new artist is the greatest of all time. If I hear her say "Young Jeezy" one mo' time...maaaaaann!! I don't think we accomplished much as far as moving goes. We made two trips to the new apartment to drop off 3 suitcases, 2 boxes, 4 pillows and 1 comforter. We packed two boxes for the movers, made a trip to goodwill and went to Costco and Circuity City to look for flat panel monitors for the new apartment. Not much packing/moving took place.
- Thanks to AIM girl moving into her new apartment, I have been reacquainted with a childhood friend whose is the apartment manager.
- Spiritual hit me with this today: "It was her time. Perhaps God moved on her behalf. If He wants you to have something, there is nothing anyone can do to stop it from happening. It's the Favor Factor." Me: "Favor factor....who talks like that?" Spiritual: "TD Jakes. I just ordered his new series Favor Factor." I roll my eyes. He's crazy.

Because of Tonex
In honor of Tonex I am going gospel with the playlist
1)Tonex: This song used to be one the chapters on the soundtrack of my life
2)Karen: Seems like it took forever for her solo release to drop but it felt like worth the wait once you listened to the "Finally Karen" album. My friend JB made me a fan of this song. She just had to hear it everytime she got in my car.
3)Yolanda: New Yolanda doesn't move me but this right here is the yolanda I like
4)GP: This is just a beautiful song to me lyrically
5)Kim: Words can't express how talent she is. The breakdown at the end of this song is sick.
6)Fred: Never liked him until I heard him sing this live. This song was another chapter on my soundtrack
7)Virtue:I don't think they get much love but I've always enjoyed them.
8)Crystal: She is forever changing up her style. I love it. One day its dance, then pop then R&B then rock. Kudos to her for being brave enough to push the limits.
9)Anointed: The first incarnation was the best. I sure would like to know why they kicked Mary out of the group.
10)Kim F: Classic. Remember when she sang this while with Rev. Milton Brunson? She redid this on one of her solo projects. Wherever Kim is I wished come back.
11)Mary Mary: This song had everybody wanted to break free of the shackles in their life.
12)Bebe & Cece: These were the good ole days. This is a classic.

Customer Service At Its Best
A few weeks ago I attempted to add an additional phone line to my T Mobile account at a local T Mo store but was unsuccessful. They coudn't verify that I was the account holder because of a discrepancy with the tax id on file and the tax id I was using in person. The sales associate tried repeatedly to explain to the woman on the phone in the accounting department that I was indeed the account holder but she wouldn't budge. The sales associate requested that I roam the mall for 30 minutes then return to the store while the accounting department investigated the situation. That wasn't a option for me because of some appointments I had that day. He asked that give him a call later in the day to check the status of my account.
When I contacted him later that day, he informed me that I needed to fax a document to T Mobile customer care requesting that they update their records with the correct information. I wasn't near a computer or a fax nor did I have the time to send them a fax so that wasn't an option that day.
Boy was I irritated. Not only was I gonna have waste more gas and time going back to the T Mobile store but not once in my 4 months of service with them had they ever noticed this problem before. Every time I had called into T Mobile to discuss my account prior to that day I had recited my tax id to them and there was never a problem.
The following day I finally get around to faxing T Mobile. An hour after the fax is sent, I give them a call to verify that my account has been updated. The first rep I speak with doesn't see the changes and transfers me to another rep. The second rep asks me to recite the correct tax id to him while he looks at the tax id on record. Immediately he spots the problem - someone had inverted 2 numbers in the sequence e.g. 92-4 was changed to 94-2. He apologizes for the typo. I tell him I am pissed that i've been inconvenienced because of someone's error at T Mobile. He back tracks and accuses the authorize reseller from whom I bought my phone for making the error. We ended the call but I was quite annoyed.
Ten minutes later, I phone T Mobile again to request termination of service. The service rep ask what can be done to keep my service active. I share my story with him and explain that I feel a credit should've been offered to me for the trouble. He places me hold while consults with his supervisor. When he returns he tells me his supervisor has authorized him to offer me 3 days worth of credit which amount to $5. I told him that was unacceptable. He explained that his hands were tied but he wanted to transfer me to another department that he felt could offer me a better credit.
I was transferred a few times until a rep from business care came on the line. I then share my story with him and add that I had just been offered $5 credit which was insulting to me. When I finish my spiel he asks me if a $10 credit would make me happier. I tell him no. He asks me what would make me happy. I tell a $35 dollar credit to offset the new activation fee for new phone I plan to purchase would be ideal. He tells me that's not a possibility but counters with an offer for a free month of service 6 months from that date. Tell him that's too long to wait for a free credit but question why the credit had to be in 6 months instead of immediate. He tells me it's company policy. He then offers to give me 500 minutes to use over a 3 month period. I tell him I don't like that offer either. He offers free texting for 3 months too. I tell I have unlimited data on my current service plan so that's not a bonus for me. He tells me those offers are the best he's got then ask me to choose one. I settle on taking the $10 credit and I murmur hostilities towards T Mobile under my breath.
Mr biz rep starts typing away for several minutes - I am assuming he was noting my account about our conversation and adding the credit - suddenly he stops typing and says I need to make you aware of something. He goes on to tell me that once I accept this one time credit to my account that I will no longer be eligible to receive any future credits or bonuses from T Mobile. I asked him to repeat himself to make sure I heard him correctly - and I had. I told him T Mobile's customer service was the worst that I had ever received.
Have you ever heard of a company policy as ridiculous as that one? That takes the cake for me. I've reported them to the better business bureau thanks to the suggestion of Trent. I think terminating my service is the best thing to do. I don't like giving money to companies that don't know how to show some appreciation for its customers.
I've written a letter to T Mobile corporate detailing how their error caused me great inconvenience and expressing my disgust with their company policies.
Do you know I called the authorized reseller to have them check their records? and guess what? They have the correct tax id on file. T Mobile's staff goofed not me nor the reseller.
So I was saddened to hear the news that Tonex is retiring from the music industry as an artist. On his blog he mentions various reasons and persons that lead him to make his decision. I have always appreciated that the fact that he tried to push the envelope in gospel music. I find most gospel music stale and lacking in creativity. It was a pleasure to watch him try new things to keep himself fresh. I don't know why other christians could accept and appreciate his vision.
I remember when I first became aware of his music. A pastor friend of mine mentioned a gospel listening party/showcase he was going to attend and asked me to meet him there. I was very reluctant because I didn't want to be held hostage in a room full of christian pretending to be enjoying some music that just wasn't doing anything for me. My pastor friend insisted that I meet him there because he was certain Tonex was the kind of artist I had been complaining was missing in gospel music. I relented to his request and met him at the listening party/showcase.
Before the showcase begins, Pastor friend introduces me to Tonex and tells him I am tough critic so he had better be good or I'd let him know about it. I couldn't believe Pastor friend said that to Tonex. I was very embarassed and I don't embarass easily. I think Tonex was a bit put off by Pastor friend's words but he graciously said something like I hope you enjoy what I have to offer.
Anyhoo, the showcase began and to my surprise Tonex ripped it. He sang his tail off and the music was just what the doctor ordered for me. He had R&B and neo-soulish sounds that enticed my ears. And he sounded comfortable singing over that style of music. I think he opened with the first single from that album Personal Jesus. I so appreciated him by the time the showcase was winding down that I made it a point to seek him out and tell him much I enjoyed his music before I left. Pastor friend had done me a great disservice and I hoped my compliments would somehow rectify that a bit. Not only did he sing well that night, but he put a lot energy into his visual presentation. You could tell immediately that this was a man with great vision and he was going to forever stand out.
I was too excited by the time his album finally hit the shelves. I made it a point to share his music with everyone I knew. Some friends took to him instantly while others couldn't share in my enthusiasm. I played his Pronouced Toe-Nay disc damn near every day for 3 months straight.
I am sure he'll be back as an artist at some point. I hope the gospel community will embrace him more the next go 'round.

Unnecessary
drama last night on Project Runway.
Nick: is a crybaby. He got mad about his preferred model being taken and he got mad because he was given a constructive critique on how to improve his work. All that whining was pointless.
Daniel: can someone take him to the barber or a stylist or something? What is that on top of his head? Doesn't he have a nervous twitch where he moves the hair away from his eye? I liked his design the most this week.
Andrae: looks like a animal. I can't figure out what kind of animal. It's gonna come to me. That dress was so-so in my opinion. I didn't see how the mud and dress were connected.
Kara: She's so insecure man...she refuses to put herself out there in any way. I think she's way over her head and the pressure is making her crack. I can not believe she used that sign as the inspiration for her design.
Santino: I've said it a million times "He needs to go." What the hell was that he designed? He is obsessed with placing ruffles, fringe, trim or whatever around the breast. He's terrible man.
Chloe: Typical. Why are the judges not noticing her pattern - blue fabric and trin around the waist. Step it up babygirl. I like you.
Zulema: What can I say? I don't think she made anything that impressed me. She talked very big but really didn't do anything. That design was blah...what was going on in her head?
I lost respect for everyone except Chloe last night...that was the first time I didn't see people saying goodbye to the eliminated designer... Those crybabies were upset even though no rules were broken. Tacky, tacky, tacky. Nick is 38 years old? Damn dude!!! Act your age.
Jay's, last season's winner, presence and critiques were a waste air time. There's something very offputting about him. He needs to buy some grace. His fat ass in that leather was ridiculous.
These designers/contestants have yet to really show anything spectacular. I really hope the designs get better or this show is gonna turn into snoozeville. Actually, it has become a bit of snoozer but I am too invested to stop watching now.
I ate another Trader Joe's Marble Cake yesterday. It's got a hold of me....I can't live without it...I need another fix today...
I better start working out again. I think this junk food is increasing my waist line.
I am feeling this Anthony Hamilton Ain't Nobody Worryin' album
AIM girl's away message last night: FUCK IT. Not as 'witty' as her previous messages...hehehe
I like you.
